Israeli producer Dana Eden on Apple TV’s hit espionage thriller series Tehran, The 52-year-old died on Sunday in a hotel room in Athens, Greece, during the shoot for season 4 of the show. Reuters and Israeli networks reported.
No cause of death has been confirmed, however Reuters Local police officials were quoted as saying that based on preliminary evidence and evidence, they are treating it as a possible suicide so far.
“This is a very sad moment for family, friends and colleagues,” production company Donna and Shula Productions said in a statement. It appeared to refer to social media rumors about the involvement of Iranian agents: “The production company wishes to clarify that rumors of a criminal or nationalist-related death are untrue and baseless.”
Israel’s public broadcaster Kahn said in a statement: “We mourn the passing of our colleague and partner in a long line of productions, series and programs at the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation – Dana Eden. Dana was one of the leading figures in the Israeli television industry.
Greek police officials said the body was found after her 52-year-old brother failed to reach her several times. Local police have issued an autopsy order to determine the cause of death and have reportedly started collecting evidence from security camera footage and hotel staff.
The recently launched third season stars Hugh Laurie Tehran. Written by Tony Saint and Simon Allen and directed by Daniel Sirkin, the series Eden, created by Moshe Zonder and Mavor Kohn stars Niv Sultan as a Mossad hacker-agent who infiltrates Tehran under a false identity, Shawn Taub and Sheila Ommi. Season 3 also features Sasan Gabai, Phoenix Roy and Bahar Pars.
