More about the film and soundtrack

The film’s soundtrack was created by composing icons and singers Este Haim, Amanda Yamate, as well as music supervisor Season Kent, who wanted to make the film as comprehensive and romantic as possible with the help of music.During a conversation with Netflix, the three reflected on creating the setlist for the music that will be featured in the film, and what the process was like for them. Yamat weighed in and said they were a good team, and achieved an even balance of the film’s sound with their own input. She added: “We listened back to some of those classic romantic comedies to see how they balanced the themes – it was so much fun to do a modern take on that. Leah was very open to us being inspired by a lot of drops of the needle.”

I studied orchestral music. Este is a rock legend and she’ll come in and play bass and synths. “We were a good team to handle all of that.”Speaking about drawing inspiration from other romantic comedies, Kent stated, “We had a lot of rom-com movie scores in our heads while we were putting the movie together and finding our style and place. But Amanda and Esty had their own vision that we put into the movie as quickly as we could.”Yamat also added that for the main gist of the film, she “tried to hit the heart and tone of what it means to love your sister and possibly lose her.”

Estee has sisters. I have a sister.”

Plot of “Isabelle’s Voicemail Messages”

The film revolves around Jill, a young pastry chef who is having a hard time dealing with the death of her sister. In order to cope with her loss, she continues to send voicemails to her sister’s number, not knowing that it has been reassigned to someone else. Real estate agent Wes, who resides in Austin, Texas, comes in and becomes the person who receives her voicemail messages. This unlikely connection opens the bond of a lifetime between the two.
