This development comes amid growing political support for the Wangchuk hunger strike, which has entered its third week, and the preparations of GPC supporters to head to Parliament on the first day of the monsoon session.
Police say he did not ask for permission to march
Senior Delhi Police officers said the proposed march would not be allowed as it might disrupt law and order in one of the most security-sensitive areas of the capital.
Officials said any large gathering heading towards Parliament could raise public safety concerns and severely impact traffic in central Delhi. They added that demonstrators could be arrested if they try to violate security arrangements.
A senior police officer familiar with the matter told Hindustan Times, on condition of anonymity, that the organizers did not inform the police or seek permission for the march.
“CJP spokesperson Abhijit Deepki never informed us and did not apply for permission for the Sansad Chalo march. It is a completely illegal protest as they got permission for only one day. We even made them sign undertakings. Now, they have extended it without any permission. Also, for the march, we only approached them but they did not even apply for permission,” the officer said.

Sonam Wangchuk taken to hospital live: Activist’s wife expresses doubts about hospital test results
Sonam Wangchuk taken to hospital LIVE: Sonam Wangchuk’s wife, Gitanjali Ji Angmo, on Saturday raised concerns over the Safdarjung Hospital’s medical report, alleging that the hospital did not allow a second opinion after reporting a severe drop in the activist’s potassium levels.
In a post on X, Angmo said the hospital reported Wangchuk’s potassium level at 2.9, down from 4.3 the day before. She claimed that the authorities did not allow him to be transferred to another laboratory for testing and did not provide a blood sample for independent verification.
“This lack of transparency makes us feel suspicious,” she said, adding that the family has asked for Wangchuk to be discharged immediately and is waiting for the hospital to respond.

Sonam Wangchuk taken to hospital live: Opposition is using activist as political face, says Chirag Paswan
Sonam Wangchuk taken to hospital LIVE: Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Saturday accused several opposition parties of using activist Sonam Wangchuk as the face of their political campaign after “losing their political ground” and expressed concern over his health amid the ongoing hunger strike.
Speaking to ANI, Paswan said: “It is unfortunate that many opposition parties, having lost their political ground, seem to be using Sonam Wangchuk as a face. One person has been left to continue the hunger strike while everyone else is worried about his deteriorating health.”
Referring to Wangchuk’s hospitalization and police intervention, Paswan said the government and judiciary were concerned about the activist’s safety. “If Delhi Police has to intervene, it is because no one wants the country to lose a person like Sonam Wangchuk,” he said.

Sonam Wangchuk taken to hospital live: Doctor says activist’s body is still fighting dehydration, condition may worsen
Sonam Wangchuk taken to hospital LIVE: Commenting on activist Sonam Wangchuk’s health, Dr Suranjit Chatterjee, senior consultant internal medicine at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, said the medical report indicating ‘compensated metabolic acidosis’ indicates that Wangchuk’s body is affected by dehydration but he is still trying to correct the imbalance.
“Using the term ‘compensation’ means that the body is still fighting the condition. Compensation only occurs when the body actively tries to restore the imbalance,” Chatterjee told news agency ANI.
He warned that if the condition develops into a “decompensated” state, it could become very serious, which could lead to electrolyte imbalance, loss of consciousness, and liver or kidney dysfunction. The doctor stressed the need for immediate medical intervention, and said that intravenous fluids and nutritional support are necessary at this stage to prevent irreversible damage. “After a certain point, the situation can become critical for the patient,” he added.
