actor Ram Kapoor admitted that the increasing demands of his professional life came at a personal cost, admitting that he was an “absentee father” for nearly a decade, to the point where his children barely knew him while growing up.
Reflecting on those years, the actor did not hesitate to give credit to his wife, Gautami Kapoor, for setting up the fort in the house.
Ram for being an absent father
Ram opened up about his personal life when he joined his wife, actor Gautami Kapoor, for an episode of Love Unscripted Season 2 on Love Unscripted channel. YouTube. They share two children together.
During the episode, Gautami revealed that they were not actively planning to have a child when they gave birth to their eldest daughter, Siya. Speaking about Gautami, Ram said, “Everything new scares her. But I felt very happy.” Gautami added, “I was like, ‘Are we going to have a baby?’ What are we going to do?’ He was like, ‘Leave it to me.’ I said, ‘What do I leave you?’
Going further, Gautami recalled that she got pregnant with Siya at a time when Ram’s career was experiencing a major revival. Sharing that he was largely busy with work at that time, she said, “Ram was not there. When I was pregnant with Siya, Ram witnessed the biggest boom of his career. It felt like (Goddess) Lakshmi had arrived. My pregnancy announcement changed Ram’s fate forever.”
Here, Ram revealed that during this time he got Kasamh Se, which became a huge hit. He admitted that he never had to look back on TV after that, adding that Sia brought all his luck to him.
In the middle of the conversation, Ram admitted that his children had not known him for at least 10 years after their birth. He said, “The reason I am what I am is only because of her. She took charge of the children and the house so amazingly that I did not worry about it for a single day. That is why I was able to focus on my career for 15 years and became what I became. She is Mother India. She literally does not need anyone. She does everything and will not let anyone get close to her. Any successful man is successful because he has a very strong woman who allowed him to succeed. Otherwise it is impossible. I did not have to worry about my child, that is why I was absent, and he did not know me.” My kids really for 10 years.

Ram and Gautami fell in love while filming their show Ghar Ek Mandir, which aired from 2000 to 2002. They married on Valentine’s Day (February 14) in 2003 and have two children – daughter Sia and son Ax.
