The actor died on October 20, 2025, at the age of 84 in Mumbai after suffering from health issues, including respiratory complications.
“I was unable to attend his last rites.”
Speaking to News18, Rajpal shared an emotional account of the time surrounding Asrani’s death. “I had just filmed with him and shared a meal. But during that time, there was a personal situation – my father was in the ICU. By the time the filming was over, I got the news. I couldn’t attend his last rites,” he said.

Recalling his time on the sets, Rajpal described the atmosphere as filled with warmth and laughter. “Whenever Mr. Asrani was around, the entire unit would gather. Even during breaks, he would entertain everyone. We would end up laughing uncontrollably.
“He stole the show every time,” he said.

Describing him as a master of entertainment, Rajpal noted, “People say entertainment is a science – he was like a guru for that. The way he performed, understood humour, and connected with people was extraordinary.” Rajpal concluded his tribute to the veteran actor, saying, “Legends like him do not fade away. They live on through their works. Mr. Asrani will always remain alive in our hearts. He is a great legend. As long as Indian cinema exists, he will remain immortal. This is absolutely true. May his blessings always be with us. One day, everyone must pass away, but to continue working till the end… may God have mercy on him.”
