'Possession' Remake In Progress, Margaret Qualley and Callum Turner to Lead New Movie - Report

Starring Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neill in the lead role, “Possession” was one of the biggest horror films of its time. The lead actress received the Best Actress award and received a lot of critical acclaim for the entire team.

Now, almost 45 years later, the film is being remade with a new cast and story in mind, and the main characters have already been cast.

According to a recent report from Vanity Fair, The Substance actress and Fantastic Beasts actor are set to lead the brand new project. The two stars, as per the report, have been selected to lead the film, which is currently in the development stage. According to the report, the remake will also be produced by Parker Finn, known for his work in the gory horror film “Smile,” and Robert Pattinson.

Speaking with SFX Magazine in 2024 about the remake, Finn talked about how important “Possession” is to him and how great a horror film he thinks it is. He cited “It’s early days, but we’re incredibly excited about this absolutely crazy movie. Possession is one of my favorite movies of all time, and so what was really important to me was that we were honoring the original and staying true to its frenzied, absolutely insane ferocity.”

This horror film was released in 1981 and was directed by Andrzej Żuławski. The story revolves around international spy Mark, whose wife, Anna, asks him for a divorce. However, he thinks she might be having an affair with someone and hires a private investigator to look into the matter. But things take a turn for the worse when Anna starts behaving strangely after filing for divorce. The film’s old cast included names such as Isabelle Adjani, Sam Neill, Michael Hogben, Johanna Hofer, Kerstin Wohlfahrt, Heinz Bennett, Margit Carstensen and Karl Döring to name a few.
