Actor Ram Charan recently spoke about his interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a promotional event for his upcoming film ‘Peddi’ in Delhi.The actor attended the event along with Janhvi Kapoor and opened up a conversation that had earlier sparked curiosity among fans and social media users.As reported by Hindustan Times, according to Ram Charan, the discussion with the Prime Minister revolved around cinema, villages and India’s changing identity through storytelling.Recalling the meeting, the ‘Peddi’ actor said, “The last time I met our honorable Prime Minister Modi ji in Delhi, he asked me about Peddi. I told him it was about a developing India and empowering our villages. Modi ji then shared a story from West Bengal, where a footballer from a small village was representing India decades ago, and today more than 85 people from the same village play football.”
‘Peddi’ is rooted in the rural background
During the event, Ram Charan also spoke about the growing trend in South Indian cinema where filmmakers are increasingly exploring stories associated with villages, regional traditions and culture.The actor explained that many modern films are moving away from urban narratives and focusing more on grounded storytelling.Speaking about this shift, Ram Charan said: “The films we make in the South today are deeply rooted in our culture and soil.
It is not in cities, but in villages and towns. Our shooting team in India includes many tribal players as they naturally possess this talent. It is nice that such talents from the villages are being recognised.‘Peddi’ is directed by Buchi Babu Sana and is touted as a sports entertainer with a strong emotional and rural background.
Overseas advance bookings for “Peddi”
Even before its release, “Peddi” began to show impressive momentum in overseas markets, especially in North America.According to early trade reports shared by Money Control, the film has already sold approximately 17,000 tickets in the USA market through approximately 1,395 showings.Advance bookings have reportedly generated around US$481.5k in the region so far.Including first reservations across North America, Peddi has surpassed nearly $533,000 in presales with approximately 18,900 tickets sold overall.Apart from Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, Peddi also features a strong supporting cast. Kannada star Shiva Rajkummar plays a lead role in the film along with Divyendu and Gajapathi Babu.
