Tirupati The Andhra Pradesh government appointing a one-man committee to examine the SIT memorandum probing the Tirupati Laddu cheating case is an “insult” to the Supreme Court and the judicial process, senior YSRCP leader and former TTD chief P Karunakar Reddy said.

On Friday, the N Chandrababu Naidu-led government appointed retired IAS officer Dinesh Kumar as a single committee to examine the CBI-led independent SIT memorandum and recommend appropriate action against the wrongdoing persons.
The committee was constituted following the Supreme Court-appointed SIT completing its investigation and filing the charge sheet.
“Appointing a one-man committee after the special court filed its charge sheet is nothing but an insult to the Supreme Court and the judicial process,” Karunakar Reddy said in a YSRCP press release late on Friday.
Reddy, who has twice served as president of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams that runs the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, said Naidu unleashed a “new political drama by appointing a one-man committee after the SIT’s probe into the Tirumala laddu ghee controversy failed to support his story”.
Claiming that the CBI-SIT probe, which was conducted on the directions of the Supreme Court across eight states for about a year “did not implicate YSRCP leaders and effectively gave them a clean sheet of paper”, Reddy charged that the ruling TDP supremo is now trying to reopen the case through a new commission to politically target members of the opposition party.
Referring to the earlier one-man commission formed after the Vaikunta Ekadasi stampede incident, he questioned its findings and claimed that such commissions were formed with “predetermined conclusions about who should be protected and who should be blamed”.
He stressed that although the Special Investigation Team has submitted its recommendations to the government, they have not been made public and instead of implementing them, the government is allegedly expanding the ghee adulteration controversy through another investigation for “political purposes”.
“The new committee aims to implicate YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and other YSRCP leaders in the ghee case after Naidu’s attempts through the SIT process failed,” Reddy claimed.
According to Karunakar Reddy, the move is merely a political strategy aimed at creating a narrative through “friendly media” over the next 45 days.
He wondered whether the power to pass judgment and punishment rested with the courts or with Naidu, noting that if that was the approach, the Prime Minister could himself head the investigation and pass judgements.
“The controversy over adulterated ghee has been politically manufactured and if any wrongdoing occurs, the responsibility will fall on the government which brought in some suppliers, including Bole Baba Dairy, and oversaw the procurement of ghee between 2013 and 2019 when Premier Dairy provided a majority stake at low prices,” he said.
He claimed that the alleged links between Heritage, Indapur and other entities have already been “exposed by evidence” and that attempts are now being made to divert attention by targeting opposition leaders, instead of addressing the facts.
Recently, YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy claimed that Naidu enabled Indapur Dairy and Milk Products Ltd to participate in TTD tenders and qualify for the supply of ghee.
According to the former chairman, Indapur Dairy was officially designated by Heritage as its manufacturing unit till February 10, 2026, and was later redesignated as a joint manufacturing site on February 15, following a controversy over its alleged association with Heritage and ghee supplies to TTD.
Moreover, Karunakar Reddy said the government had recently replaced the TTD’s executive officer, AK Singhal, and sending another official on leave was allegedly “part of efforts to deflect accountability”.
He alleged that the one-man committee aimed to perpetuate “political conspiracy and discredit YSRCP leaders instead of delivering justice”.
Moreover, he warned that if Naidu did not “admit his mistakes and apologise” for dragging a sacred issue into politics, he would face judgment in the court of public opinion.
Meanwhile, TDP leader M Gurunadham alleged that YSRCP leaders are deliberately shifting the laddu ghee adulteration issue for political gains and in the process are distorting heritage.
“No amount of slander will lead people to believe,” he said, adding that Heritage, promoted by the CM’s family, started with just $4 Crore, which is now $4000 Crore Company.
Gurunadham accused YSRCP leaders of linking Heritage with unrelated companies like Bhole Baba Dairy and Indapur Dairy.
