The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation on Wednesday demolished alleged illegal structures at the residence and other properties of AIMIM firm Matin Patel, which was booked for harboring Nashik TCS accused Nida Khan, officials said.

Khan was arrested in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in central Maharashtra on May 7, where police claimed All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Patel had given her shelter.
On May 9, the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation issued a notice to Patel over the alleged illegal construction in the city’s Naregaon area, seeking clarification from him within 72 hours. The notice stated that if no response was received from Patel, the company would have the authority to decide the fate of the property.

Patel later moved the court to request a stay on the matter, but it was not granted.
Mayor Sameer Rajurkar told PTI on Wednesday morning that the civic body demolished illegal structures at Patel’s house, his office and some shops under police security.
Earlier, on Tuesday evening, former AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jalil met the Patel family in Naregaon, criticizing the civic body’s “haste”.
Addressing his supporters after the meeting, Jalil said: “We asked for a week from the court, but the municipal corporation is in a hurry to demolish the buildings. It is a crucial moment for all of us, but after the demolition, we will build a house for Mateen and his family that the country will see.”
Mayor Rajurkar on Monday said that the process of cancellation of Patel’s company will take place after verifying the documents related to his properties.
“If Patel indulges in irregularities, his membership in the civic body should be cancelled. The action has been taken under the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, which clearly states that no information should be concealed while submitting nomination form for civic polls,” he said.
