“My father passed away today and is resting peacefully at home,” Skip wrote on Twitter. I appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers over the past two months! It was successful, but more importantly [sic] It was important.
The entire family released a statement about Law, praising his college football coaching career as well as his ventures outside of the sport.

“Lewis Leo “Lou” Holtz, legendary college football coach, Hall of Famer, best-selling author, and one of the most influential motivational voices in America, has passed away at the age of 89 in Orlando, Florida, surrounded by his family,” the family statement, shared by the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on X, reads. “Born January 6, 1937, in Follansbee, West Virginia, Holtz rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most respected figures in college athletics.”
The family also indicated that funeral arrangements will include a Mass of Christian Burial at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame.
