“I spent two and a half months in jail,” Vikram told Hindustan Times. “I was not only optimistic, but I was completely confident that law and order are here, and the truth will definitely come out.” He said: “I made a friend in prison, who told me about the nature of the soil of Mewar. He told me that the truth may be disturbed in the soil of Mewar, but it cannot be defeated. I will leave from here after applying tilak from the same soil of Mewar – the truth will always be victorious here.”

“Like Lord Krishna, I have to fight a new battle…”

Vikram described his time in prison as a spiritual test, and said that he emerged stronger from this experience. He said, “This is Panchva Dham (fifth abode). I am a devotee of Lord Krishna. I lived in the same place where Lord Krishna was born. Understand that I am putting out twice as much as I was before. Like Lord Krishna, I have to fight a new battle.”

The director refrained from commenting on the ongoing legal process and also added, “I don’t want to say much about law and order. I have full faith in the legal system of this country. Whatever justice is done will be in everyone’s interest.”

Case and background

For those who don’t know, on February 19, Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari Bhatt received regular bail from the Supreme Court in connection with a multi-crore cheating case linked to a proposed biopic on the founders of Indira IVF. The couple was arrested by Rajasthan Police last December and lodged in Jodhpur Central Jail.

The case arose out of a complaint filed by Ajay Murdia, who claimed he was persuaded to invest in it $30 crore in a biopic based on the life of his late wife, with promises of high returns that reportedly never materialised.
