New Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant has drawn widespread criticism after his post-match comment which included the ‘F’ word. Pant, after LSG’s defeat to Rajasthan Royals on May 19 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, was called in for a post-match interview and said: “We are a good team” on live television. For this comment, Pant was criticized and criticized from all angles.

However, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar backed Pant and said that the broadcasters should have given the skipper some breathing room instead of calling him directly after the match.“Rishabh Pant dropping the ‘F’ word in his post-match interview makes one wonder if it was necessary to interview a captain whose team had just lost the match a few minutes earlier.

“If it was the last over, the disappointment for the skipper would be even greater and if he was also the wicket-keeper who was running up and down the stumps on every other delivery and that too in this heat, it could add to his frustration,” Gavaskar wrote at midday. Both LSG and Pant did not perform well in the Indian Premier League 2026. LSG signed IPL 2026 at the bottom of the points table. They achieved only four victories in 14 matches and suffered ten defeats.

Pant also struggled with the bat, scoring just 312 runs in 14 matches. He added: “It might be a better idea to speak to the ‘Player of the Match’ from the winning team and give the captain of the losing team some time to splash some water on his face and regain his composure and then come in for an interview. As it is, there will be some time until the presentation party is ready, so giving the captain of the losing team a few extra minutes can ensure that such things do not happen.”“Rishabh Pant is one of the funniest players in the game and loves to play the sport in his own unique way. The fact that he even lost makes it possible to give the captain of the losing team a few extra minutes to recover his thoughts instead of having the microphone shoved in his face before he even has time to catch his breath. Is that too much to ask?” books.
