Former Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar was arrested from Mandi Gobindgarh in Fatehgarh Sahib district on Monday afternoon in connection with the case of abetment to suicide of a warehouse company employee.

State Minister Bhullar resigned on Saturday after allegations that he harassed Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, district manager of Punjab State Warehousing Corporation in Amritsar. Randhawa allegedly died from consuming poison earlier that day.
The arrest came just two hours after Gurjit Singh Aujla, Member of Parliament for Amritsar, raised the issue in Parliament, prompting a response from Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He was sitting in the council at that time, and was about to leave when the wheel asked him to listen to what he had to say. Shah responded that if all Punjab MPs together submitted a written request to him, he would immediately order a CBI investigation into the issue.
