Ed Harris – who famously endured the torturous torture of James Cameron The abyss – He said he wanted to escape from Taylor Sheridan Dutton Farm.
The 75-year-old actor is speaking out about his time on the Paramount+ series, where he was described as one of the show’s main characters. in Yellowstone Spinoff, he plays Everett McKinney, an ally of Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, who plays him Yellowstone Alum and Dutton Farm Stars/EPs Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser respectively.
Harris said diverse that he felt “misled” about the extent of his role in the first season.
“Midway through Season 1, I was ready to say, ‘Get me out of here, to tell you the truth,'” Harris said on the Apple TV show’s red carpet. Dink. “I didn’t feel like I was being taken advantage of. I felt very misled. Before I signed it, they talked to me a little bit about the season, what my character was going to do, and that I was one of the four main characters. And that wasn’t really the case.”
Harris said he went to the producers — without specifying who — and complained about his role.
“I said I felt unused and unimportant, and they kind of said, ‘Oh,'” he continued.
Harris said he has signed on for two seasons in total, with the already renewed second season set to begin filming in February. Chad Feehan was replaced as showrunner for the second season by Benjamin Cavill.
“I was told that my character was going to have more to do. It was a bit depressing. When I watched the season, it was good, it’s very good. It seemed like I was relatively important to the story, but doing it didn’t feel that way. What really pissed me off, to tell you the truth, was the first episode, or the second, they told me before I could sign that you had to sing in the bar… and they cut it! They said it was.” Too “higher” for the dark ending of the episode… I’m like “Fuck you people!” This, for me, is reason enough to say: “I am canceling my contract.”
Representatives for Paramount+ and 101 Studios had no immediate comment.
Ironically, Harris’s frankness about his dissatisfaction with the role is exactly the kind of frank comment Sheridan himself made about his experiences in Hollywood.
Demi Moore went through a similar situation during her time at Paramount+ LandmanHer role was criticized for being rather small during the first season of the show. Her role was greatly expanded in the second season of the show. Either way, the change in role size was part of the plan all along.
Sheridan has described Moore’s small role as a “bait of anger” to critics.
“I told her, when I met with Demi about it, I said, ‘Look, this is the thing: You’re going to be an extra on this show,'” Sheridan said recently. Bill Simmons Podcast. “For seven episodes, it’s going to be a bonus episode, and the critics are going to come after me. Sheridan continued: “Me and the critics, I don’t care what they think, and it bothers them that I don’t care. And I’ll be the first to tell you that there are things I do that piss them off a little, and this is one of them.”
