'Drishyam 3' Digital Rights Row: Popular OTT Platform Release Notice; She says she alone can stream Mohanlal's film

Amazon Prime Video has acquired the exclusive digital streaming rights of the upcoming film Drishyam 3. The platform has issued a public notice stating its sole ownership. This comes after an agreement in place with the production company Aashirvad Cinemas. The public and industry stakeholders are warned against any unauthorized digital deals of the film.

The upcoming Malayalam film ‘Drishyam 3’, starring Mohanlal, is one of the most awaited films among the Indian audiences. The previous two parts of the series were huge successes and set new standards for exciting storytelling.

Due to this success, fans are eagerly waiting to see how Georgekutty’s story continues in the third part. Amid this growing excitement, streaming company Amazon Prime Video has already acquired the digital streaming rights for the film. The platform has now issued a public statement clarifying its ownership of the digital rights to the film and warning against any unauthorized deals related to its online distribution.

Amazon Prime Video claims exclusive digital rights to the film

In a statement shared on social media, Amazon Prime Video confirmed that it is the sole owner of the digital rights to ‘Drishyam 3’. The platform explained that these rights come from a valid agreement signed with the film’s production company, “Aashirvad Cinema.” The company clearly stated:“It is hereby notified that Amazon Seller Services Private Limited (Amazon), subject to the valid exercise of its rights under the existing agreements between Aashirvad Cinemas and Amazon, is the sole and exclusive owner of all digital rights (including but not limited to SVOD, TVOD, AVOD, FVOD and EST) in Drishyam 3 (Malayalam) (the film),” it said.

The platform warns the public of unauthorized digital transactions

The OTT platform also warned the audience and industry stakeholders against entering into any agreements related to the digital rights of the film without its approval. The statement further read: “The public is hereby cautioned that Amazon reserves these rights to the exclusion of all others, and Aashirvad Cinemas (including its assigns, licensees and any other person licensed by Aashirvad Cinemas) has no right to sell, license or in any way create any third party interest, franchise or charge for the digital rights to the film.

The company added that anyone who engages in such transactions will do so at their own risk and may face legal consequences.

The release of ‘Drishyam 3’ has been postponed to May 21

Drishyam 3, directed by Jeethu Joseph, continues the story of Georgekutty, played by Mohanlal, who captivated audiences in the previous films. The third part was scheduled to be released on April 2, but has now been postponed. As per the latest update, the film will release worldwide on May 21, coinciding with Mohanlal’s birthday, making it a special occasion for fans who are eagerly waiting for the next chapter of the thriller.
