In a heartfelt update during the grand opening of the Dollywood Expo, Dolly Parton spoke candidly about her recent health struggles that delayed her Las Vegas residency. Reflecting on the toll of mourning her beloved husband, Carl Dean, she noted that she felt “exhausted” but affirmed her commitment to nurturing her spiritual, emotional, and physical health.
In her first major public appearance since canceling her 2025 Las Vegas residency amid unspecified health concerns, Dolly Parton shared an update on her health. Last September, Parton announced that she was postponing her residency in Las Vegas due to “health challenges.”
Dolly Parton takes good care of her health
Parton, 80, spoke about her health and journey during a keynote speech on the opening day of her theme park, Dollywood, on Friday, March 13. This year’s theme park season marks the 41st season since the opening of the Tennessee theme park. “I haven’t been on tour, you know,” Barton said, as seen in footage of the speech shared by WVLT 8. “I’ve had some little health issues, and we’re taking good care of them.”

“I felt kind of overwhelmed and overwhelmed, and sad for Carl and a lot of other little things going on,” Barton explained.
“I just got to where I needed to rebuild myself spiritually, emotionally and physically. But it’s all good. It hasn’t slowed me down.”In her first major public appearance in months, Parton stunned in a corset dress and her platinum blonde hair in a voluminous, signature hairstyle. Her joyful appearance came two months after Parton was forced to skip her 80th birthday celebration at the Grand Ole Opry due to ongoing health struggles.
Dolly Parton thinks Karl Dean is waiting for her
After joking that fans shouldn’t confuse Dollywood boss Eugene Naughton, with whom she shared the stage, with her “new husband,” she confirmed she’s “not dating anyone” since Dean’s death. “I think Karl Dean is waiting for me,” she said, before adding: “If I were to show up at the pearly gates with someone else, he wouldn’t like it. He’d say, ‘Who’s that little pisser? Leave him outside the gates.'” “
