“Disgraceful”: Carolyn Leavitt criticizes Larry Krasner for threatening arrest of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents deployed at US airports

White House press secretary Carolyn Leavitt on Wednesday responded to Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner after he warned that immigration agents could face arrest, calling his comments “disgraceful.”

In his response during a press conference, the White House press secretary questioned the basis of Krasner’s comments and criticized his warning tone.

“Agents help, they don’t break the law.”

The White House press secretary noted that employees from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) were assisting travelers at airports rather than engaging in illegal activities.“He talks to ICE agents who are handing out water bottles and helping people move through lines at airports,” she said, dismissing suggestions that the agents are committing crimes.

Strong defense of ICE personnel

In defense of the agency, the White House press secretary described ICE officers as “great people” with critical responsibilities. She added that their work extends beyond airports to include maintaining public safety nationwide, including addressing serious criminal threats. The White House press secretary also took aim at Krasner’s stance, suggesting he speak directly with ICE staff to understand their role instead of issuing threats.

Her comments underscored the administration’s tough defense of federal agents amid criticism from local officials.

What Krasner said about ICE

Earlier, Krasner warned that federal immigration agents working in Philadelphia could face legal consequences if they violate local laws. He stressed that any individual who commits crimes within the city’s jurisdiction will be prosecuted, regardless of federal authority.Krasner also said that a presidential pardon will not protect individuals from domestic prosecution, and stressed that his office will take action if laws are violated, emphasizing that its role is to uphold the Constitution and protect public safety.
