Days after criticizing intrusive paparazzi, Neha Dhupia says they have always respected her family’s privacy: ‘I had a great relationship with the paparazzi’
Actress Neha Dhupia recently made headlines after confronting paparazzi over intrusive ‘back shots’ at a public event in Mumbai. Now, days after the incident sparked conversations about celebrity privacy, the actress has made it clear that she shares a positive relationship with the paparazzi and appreciates the respect they’ve shown toward her family over the years.Speaking from London while promoting her global film ’52 Blue’, Neha spoke about how photographers largely respect the boundaries she sets, especially when it comes to her children.
Neha talks about her relationship with the paparazzi
The ‘De Dana Dan’ actress said that she has always maintained a friendly and professional equation with the paparazzi and acknowledged their support for her projects.“I had a great relationship with the people. They were very respectful of me and understanding that my children needed privacy.”
She also shared that she often invites photographers to promotional events and appreciates the role they play in helping films and shows reach audiences.“I’ve been open to the same. When I shoot Double Date, I invite people who show up. They help us get our show out there.”
Why did Neha invite the paparazzi?
At a recent event in Mumbai, Neha publicly objected to photographers taking what she called inappropriate “back shots”.
The actor urged them to stop the practice and stressed that celebrities deserve the same respect they give to the media.“Yeh badtameezi se backshot kaun leta hai tum log me se? Kaun leta hai? Band karo.”“Mera nahi karna hai. Kisi ka nahi karna hai. Bol bol kar thak jay hai. Bag utha kar, kitab utha kar, walk back karki. Yeh sab nahi chaliga abhi. Band karu yeh sab. Hum log bahut izzat se karte hai ab login se baat.”
Caro died.”(Who keeps making these disrespectful accusations? Who does that? Stop it.)“Don’t do that to me. Don’t do that to anyone. We’re tired of repeating ourselves. Picking up bags, lifting books, walking backwards just to get those shots, it all has to stop now. Stop doing it. We always talk to you with respect, and expect the same in return. Please don’t do this.” )Her statements quickly gained significant attention on social media, reigniting discussions about the boundaries between celebrity coverage and personal privacy.
Neha Dhupia talks about her international debut
During the same interaction, Neha also talked about her international debut in the movie “52 Blue,” directed by Egyptian director Ali El Araby and co-starring Adel Hussein. In the film, she played the role of Lakshya, the mother of a young footballer from Kerala. While discussing the role, the actress said that being a mother in real life helped her connect with the emotional depth required for the character.“Being a mother helped me prepare for this role because I had to deal with a lot of the pain of motherhood as a character.
So whether it’s loss, or departure, or longing, or all of that, or unfulfilled dreams, then I think if this movie had been shown to me seven years ago when I wasn’t a mother, I don’t think I would have been able to give it as many layers.”She added that motherhood radically changed her understanding of grief and emotional loss.“Whereas once you become a mother, it completely changes. And that’s because loss and pain, you know, affects your heart to the point where it’s almost numb.”
So there’s a part of me that needs to be photographed.”
