Day 13 box office collection for 'Karuppu': Suriya starrer film crosses Rs 258 crore worldwide despite mid-week decline

Tamil superstar Suriya continues his successful theater career with the film ‘Karuppu’. The fantasy action drama, directed by RJ Balaji, maintained its strong hold at the box office despite its second Wednesday decline.‘Karuppu’ is also being seen as a major comeback film for Suriya after a gap between theatrical successes.

The collections for the 13th day of ‘Karuppu’ are witnessing a slight decline

According to Sacnilk, ‘Karuppu’ has collected Rs 4 lakh nett in India on Day 13. This number represents a 10.1 per cent decline compared to Day 12 collections of Rs 4.45 lakh nett. The film played in 4,558 shows on the second Wednesday. With the latest figures, the total net collection in India has reached Rs 163.20 crore.

Total collection in India now stands at Rs 188.85 crore.Karuppu also continued its consistent performance abroad. The film collected a total of Rs 1 crore internationally on Day 13. This took its total overseas collection to Rs 70 crore.The total global collection has now reached Rs 258.85 crore.

The Tamil version continues to lead

On Day 13, the Tamil version collected Rs 3.30 crore nett from 3,141 shows with 23 percent occupancy.The Telugu version added a net collection of Rs 70 lakh from 1,417 shows at 17 percent occupancy.

Tamil Nadu alone contributed a total of Rs 3.35 lakh crore on Wednesday.Other regions have also been added to the total collections. Karnataka contributed a total of Rs 28 lakh, while Kerala added a total of Rs 25 lakh. Rest of India collections amounted to a total of Rs 3 lakh.

Nightly shows are still going strong

Karuppu continued to perform best during the evening and night shows in the Tamil markets. The Tamil version recorded an overall occupancy of 23.94 percent on the 13th day.The morning occupancy rate was 15.15 percent. Afternoon showings improved to 25.23 percent.

The evening occupancy rate reached 26.46 percent, while the nightly shows peaked at 28.92 percent.The Telugu version recorded an occupancy rate of 10.74 percent. The afternoon shows performed comparatively better with 13.60 percent occupancy. The morning occupancy rate was 8.10 percent, while the evening and night shows recorded 11.20 percent and 9.80 percent, respectively.

RJ Balaji blends mythology with mass entertainment

‘Karuppu’ drew attention for its combination of fantasy elements, social themes and commercial narrative.
