A 58-year-old man beheaded his wife in a village in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district and then walked around carrying the severed head, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place on Wednesday evening in Bundeli village, which falls within the limits of Rajgamar police station.
The accused, Salik Ram Yadav, a guard at a local poultry farm, attacked his 50-year-old wife with a sharp weapon to cut meat after an argument while he was under the influence of alcohol, a police official said.
After the killing, the man was seen walking around the village holding the severed head in one hand and the weapon in the other. He then put the severed head and weapon in a plastic bag, leaving the torso in place, and reached Rajjamar police station, the official said.
He added that during his investigation, the accused claimed that he committed the crime after repeated disputes with his wife, who doubted his character.
The couple, originally from Ajgarbahar Haldimada village in Korba district, have been working on the poultry farm for the past three years and have four children.
The source added that the accused was arrested and the weapon used in the crime was seized.
He added that the body was sent for autopsy, and investigations are still ongoing.
