The story of “Batwara 1947” and the inspiration for the gameplay
The Indian Express reported that the film “Batwara 1947” was inspired by Wajahat’s play, the title of which translates to “He who has not seen Lahore has not been born.” The play is set in post-Partition Lahore and follows a Muslim family who moves from Lucknow to the city after being allotted a haveli by a Hindu family.
The story takes a sharp turn when the family finds an elderly Hindu woman still living inside the haveli. She refuses to leave and claims that the house belongs to her. The conflict between the displaced family and the woman slowly unfolds a larger story of grief, belonging, fear and shared humanity during one of the most painful chapters in the history of the subcontinent.
