Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, father of actor Salman Khan, is currently recovering in Lilavati Hospital after suffering a minor brain hemorrhage on February 17. Doctors confirmed that the 90-year-old writer underwent a small surgery and was placed on ventilator support.

On Wednesday, Dr. Jalil D. said: Parkar, who is treating Salim, told reporters: “There was a minor bleed in the brain. A small operation was performed this morning and it was done. He is fine and stable but still on the ventilator. By tomorrow, we hope to take him off the ventilator. Overall, he is doing very well. Considering his age, the recovery time is longer.”

As news of Salim Khan’s hospitalization spread, an old interview with Shah Rukh Khan has resurfaced, where the star expressed his deep gratitude towards the veteran writer and his family.
In a 2018 interaction with IANS, Shah Rukh Khan said, “I am Shah Rukh Khan today because of Salim Khan.” The actor recalled how Khan’s family welcomed him when he first arrived in Mumbai as an unknown freedom fighter. “The first time I came to Mumbai as a struggling actor, I had my meals at Salman Khan’s house, where Salim Khan supported me a lot. Because of them I became ‘Shah Rukh Khan’.”
Before becoming one of India’s biggest movie stars, Shah Rukh Khan began his career in television in the late 1980s and made his Bollywood debut with the 1992 film. Diwana.

After his recent health setback, Khan’s entire family was by Salim Khan’s side at Lilavati Hospital. His wives, Salma Khan and Helen, were seen along with his son, Salman Khan, during their visit on Wednesday.
Previous reports indicated that Slim suffered dizziness caused by a sudden increase in blood pressure, which led to internal bleeding in the right side of his brain. Doctors have since explained that his condition remains stable and that his recovery is progressing well.
