He pointed to Gambhir’s credentials as a player and mentor, recalling his World Cup-winning knocks.
“He has performed at the highest level and played a key role in winning two World Cups. And then as a mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders, he has won titles again. He must be doing something right,” Yuvraj added.“Sticking his stride led to a World Cup win.”Yuvraj stressed that Gambhir’s biggest strength is his ability to remain committed to his game plan despite criticism. He said: “When you become India’s coach, there are many eyes on you. One mistake appears 100 times, and one success occurs 1,000 times.”
Referring to the criticism Gambhir faced after India’s Test setbacks, Yuvraj noted: “He went through that phase but stuck to his process. That’s what led India to a World Cup victory. And now he’s back on top – there will always be ups and downs in cricket.”According to Yuvraj, Gambhir’s aggressive scheme has instilled fear in the opponents. “It was clear – we have to play this kind of cricket even if there are failures.
We’re after you from ball one. “If there is a shot opportunity, players like Abhishek or Sanju will hit it from the first ball,” he explained.
