New Delhi: Former India international Shikhar Dhawan has strongly denied fabricated quotes circulating on social media about his personal life after his recent marriage to Sophie Shine, urging people not to spread “false statements” and instead promote “love and positivity”.

Subscribe now!Dhawan, who tied the knot with Shane in a private ceremony on February 21, issued a stern clarification after several X accounts attributed false comments to him suggesting that his ex-wife Ayesha Mukherjee doubted his chances of getting married again.
Dhawan broke his silence and said that he was disappointed by the false information, and stressed that he did not feel any bitterness from his past.“I have come across some posts on social media ascribing a disappointing statement about my personal life. I have never carried baggage from my past, be it on the field or off it. I firmly believe in the power of positivity while respecting my past,” Dhawan wrote on social media.Describing this phase as a new beginning, the 40-year-old expressed gratitude for the support he has received while warning against clickbait content.
He added, “This is a new chapter in my life, and I feel truly grateful for the love and blessings I have received from my fans, friends, family, well-wishers and the media. I strongly urge people not to trade on my name through deceptive, insensitive and false statements on social media. Let’s spread love and positivity. Thank you.”
Dhawan and Shine, an Irish product consultant who works with Northern Trust Corporation, have been dating for more than a year and announced their engagement in January. Their wedding photos, in outfits designed by Manish Malhotra, received congratulatory messages from celebrities including Ranveer Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal.Dhawan retired from international cricket in August 2024 after a distinguished career that included 167 international matches and a Player of the Tournament performance in 2013.
