MLC 2026: Caribbean powerhouse pushes Knight Riders to 81-run win over Orcas

The Los Angeles Knight Riders continued their strong start to the 2026 Major League Cricket (MLC) season with an 81-run win over the Seattle Orcas on Sunday. The team led by Jason Holder has now won both of its matches in the six-team tournament.Batting first, the Knight Riders posted 196 runs in their 20 overs, with contributions coming from multiple batsmen. Andre Fletcher led the scoring with 40 off 27 balls and added 58 runs for the opening wicket with Colin Munro, who made 30 off 22 deliveries.Rovman Powell gave a late innings boost with 37 runs off just 11 balls, while captain Holder scored 23 off 14 balls.For the Seattle Orcas, Jasdeep Singh was the most successful bowler, taking three wickets for 29 runs in four overs.

Ottneil Baartman also took three wickets, ending with figures of 3/36. Dasun Shanaka had a tough outing, conceding 59 runs in four overs at an economy rate of 14.75.The standout moment of the innings came from Powell, who hit 11 balls including five successive sixes from Shanaka. He was dismissed while trying to score a sixth in a row and failed to equal the record for most sixes on more than one occasion.In response, the Seattle Orcas were never able to build momentum. Openers were denied early, and the middle order failed to recover.

Several batters started, but none scored more than Harmeet Singh, who scored 25 while batting at number eight. His innings helped the team cross the 100-run mark.Orcas were eventually bowled out for 115 in 15.3 overs.Knight Riders made good use of the conditions and backed up their bowling efforts with support on the field. Andre Russell and Corne van Schalkwyk took three wickets each, while Sunil Narine kept things tight with the ball.The result gave the Los Angeles Knight Raiders their second win in as many matches, while the Seattle Orcas suffered their second defeat in three matches.
