New Delhi: The ‘black magic’ controversy has created a storm on social media, as it came into the limelight during the IPL 2026 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings. A viral video showing a Sunrisers Hyderabad fan performing a lemon ritual – often described as black magic – coincided with the sacking of CSK star Shivam Dube, sparking widespread chatter online.

Along with the video, an unverified message claiming that CSK complained to the IPL about the incident was also circulated on social media.Reacting to the letter and the controversial controversy, former Indian Premier League (ISL) commissioner Lalit Modi claimed that such practices had happened in the past, alleging that the owner of an ISL team had once resorted to similar tactics.
