New Delhi: Lungi Ngidi has finally broken his silence after suffering a scary injury during the IPL 2026 match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, assuring fans that he is recovering well.The South African took to Instagram to thank his supporters for their concern and issued an update on his condition.“Thanks for the messages, all good,” In his first public reaction after the infection scare, Ngidi wrote, alleviating fears about his condition, while sharing an Instagram story.

Ngidi has since been discharged from a Delhi hospital after the incident. The fast bowler suffered an alarming fall on the back of his head and neck during the match and was taken to BLK-Max Super Specialty Hospital for observation.

Delhi Capitals co-owner and chairman Kiran Kumar Grande also visited the hospital to check on the doctor’s condition.Despite KL Rahul’s sensational 152*, a record-breaking 126-run opening stand between Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya, and a stunning 71* from skipper Shreyas Iyer, Punjab Kings pulled off a historic chase of 265 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Lungi Ngidi suffered a scary injury on the field during the IPL 2026 match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings, leaving him momentarily unconscious and bringing the match to a complete halt as players on both sides looked visibly shaken.
The incident happened in the third over of Punjab Kings’ innings, bowled by Axar Patel, when Priyansh Arya fired a shot towards the deep. Ngidi, positioned down the field, judged the ball well and moved back to attempt what appeared to be a routine catch.However, as he stretched during the return, he lost his balance and failed to reach even his fingertips to the ball. In the process, he landed hard on the back of his head and neck, sparking an immediate alarm on the field.The medical staff quickly rushed while players from both teams gathered around them. The match was stopped for more than 10 minutes while Ngidi received treatment on the pitch before being taken to hospital in an ambulance for further assessment.The severity of the fall sparked immediate concern, with Viraj Nigam brought in as a concussion replacement. Despite the scary incident, the Indian Premier League later confirmed that Ngidi’s condition is stable and he is expected to be discharged from hospital.
