New Delhi: Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi revealed the chat he had with his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal in the dressing room after Rajasthan Royals were put in to bat by Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday.
The two young batsmen had a clear intention of going home, and the same approach was reflected in their aggressive start – but in a far more brutal manner than the opposition expected.Yashasvi Jaiswal was bowled out for 10 runs, but Suryavanshi delivered on the promise he made inside the dressing room. He smashed 103 off 37 balls in his second IPL century, hitting five fours and 12 sixes on his way to the feat.

He also brought up his 1000th run in T20 cricket off the bat just 473 balls.
The previous fastest record was held by Australian Mitchell Owen, who reached the mark with 533 balls.Sooryavanshi’s hundred was the third-fastest in IPL history, behind Chris Gayle’s 30-ball century in 2013 and 35-ball century last season. However, despite his explosive batting, Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down Rajasthan Royals’ total of 228 in the end.“Jab hum toss jeet kar andar gaye, toh Yash bhai ne bola, ‘Vaibhav aaj jaake maarte hain yaar.”
Toh mein bhi bhola, haan, aaj jaak marti hain. Aaj kuch nahi karing, surf chakki maring [When we won the toss and went inside, Yash bhai said, ‘Vaibhav, today let’s go out and attack.’ So I also said, ‘Yes, let’s go out and attack. Today we won’t do anything else, we will only hit sixes]Suryavanshi said, recalling his dressing room conversation with Jaiswal.

He was also full of praise for the young batter.“I think he’s my new favorite player,” Cummins, who bowled against the world’s best batsmen and took 315 wickets, told reporters.“He hits the ball hard, and it’s great to watch. It’s good fun. You’ve got to be right on the money as a basketball player because if you’re not, you’ll come a long way. He’s impressive.”Cummins added: “It’s been a great start to his career. I love the way he plays. He takes over the game.”Sooryavanshi has been in sublime form in IPL 2026, scoring 357 runs so far, including two off 15 balls at an average of 234.86 in eight matches.

Should Vaibhav Suryavanshi be fast-tracked into the India senior team?
“It’s a no-brainer… he is the most destructive Indian player in T20,” former England captain Michael Vaughan wrote on X.The teenager has also faced world-class bowlers, including Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah of Mumbai Indians, even smashing him for six wide in their first meeting earlier this month. His performance has sparked growing calls for his inclusion in the senior India team to be fast-tracked.
