Massive scare for Gujarat Titans, as the team bus suffered a short circuit after the match. (special arrangement)
TimesofIndia.com in Ahmedabad: What started as a disappointing night on the field almost turned into an even more worrying ordeal for Gujarat Titans (GT).The night went from bad to worse for Shubman Gill’s GT when their team bus suffered a short circuit while returning from the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday evening, leaving the players stranded on the road for nearly an hour, TimesofIndia.com can confirm.
The players and supporting staff were evacuated immediately, and everyone is fine.GT have already endured a tough evening after suffering a five-wicket defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL final at the Narendra Modi Stadium. It’s been an exhausting few days for the Titans. Their arrival in Ahmedabad before the final was delayed due to bad weather conditions in northwest India. Heavy rain delayed the GT charter flight by nearly three hours and the team finally reached Ahmedabad late on Saturday. The delay also led to the postponement of the scheduled photo shoot of the captains featuring Shubman Gill and Rajat Patidar. The Giants haven’t had time to catch their breath over the past five days. On 26 May, they lost Qualifier 1 to RCB at HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. The next day, they traveled to Chandigarh before facing Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 at the new PCA International Stadium in Mullanpur on 29 May.Despite losing in the final at home, captain Shubman Gill praised his team “We couldn’t get over the line, but there are always things you can improve on,” he said in the post-match presentation. “And even if we had won the title, there were still things that we felt as a group we needed to work on.”
