England announces ODI squad for India series. James Coles and Josh Tong receive their first call-ups

New Delhi: England on Friday announced a 16-member squad for the three-match ODI series against India later this month, with off-season all-rounder James Coles and fast bowler Josh Tong getting their maiden call-ups.India and England are currently playing a five-match T20I series before competing in three ODIs on July 14, 16 and 19 in Birmingham, Cardiff and Lord’s respectively.

The biggest talking points in the England squad is the inclusion of Coles and Tong, who are yet to feature in an ODI.Seamers Jos Atkinson and Saqib Mahmood are also included in the squad as England prepare to take on a strong Indian side.

Jofra Archer He comes back

Fast bowler Jofra Archer has also been named in the squad and is set to return to ODI cricket for the first time since November 2025.His return will boost England’s attacking pace ahead of the three-match series.

India to form a strong team

India are expected to field a full-strength team for the ODI series.Former skipper Rohit Sharma and paceman Jasprit Bumrah are scheduled to participate, while Virat Kohli’s participation will depend on his fitness.
