In a shocking incident in Telangana, a 28-year-old woman and her six-month-old baby were set on fire by another woman in a village in Nalgonda district on Saturday, police officials said.

(unsplash)According to investigators, the accused was reportedly involved in an affair with the victim’s husband and was upset after she distanced herself after his marriage, news agency PTI reported. Following this complaint, he allegedly went to the couple’s house on Saturday afternoon and poured petrol on the woman and set her on fire.

The child, who was burnt in the fire, suffered severe burns and was rushed to a government hospital. However, the child died later while undergoing treatment.
Police said the accused were carrying petrol, a knife and chilli powder during the attack. According to the report, the husband was not at home at the time of the incident.

Authorities said they are investigating the case from all angles, including whether the man had any involvement in the crime. The accused, a widow, whose husband died earlier, is currently absconding and efforts are on to trace and arrest him, police added.
In a separate incident, a 38-year-old woman working in the IT sector and her two teenage children were found dead on the railway tracks between Cherlapally and Ghatkesar stations near Hyderabad early on Saturday, police said.
Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel reached the spot as soon as the alert was received. The bodies, which were severely mutilated, have been sent for post-mortem, and the police suspect the incident to be a suicide.
