British origin Padma Shri Awardee Pepita Seth has officially acquired Indian citizenship. He has been living in Kerala for over 50 years and applied for citizenship in 2024.

In an interview, she expressed her happiness about becoming one Indian Citizen He said, “I am happy to be here and happy to be an Indian citizen. My dream. Friend.”

Recalling her journey, she shared, “My name is Pepita Seth. I was born and brought up in UK. After some time, I got interested in traveling and I came to India.”

Why settle in Kerala?Initially, he visited Delhi and later visited various places across India including Mumbai. Finally, he visited Kerala. “I loved Kerala.” He explains that he loves the culture and the local people.

“I traveled from Delhi to Bombay and then Kerala, North Kerala and then the whole of Kerala. Like everyone who came here saw Kathakali, went to see Theyam, other cultural activities, got to know people, saw melam, saw Uttaralikkavu, things like that and gradually became more and more interested in Kerala culture and started taking pictures and writing about it and I stayed in Thrissur because it was a very good focus point and I traveled from flat here for 1 year and traveled for 1 year. or something.”

He also mentions the books he wrote on Thayam. Also known as Kaliyattam, it is a religious dance popular in North Kerala.

He was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award, in 2012 for his work in arts and culture.
