The Delhi High Court suspended Justice Veena Rani after the chief justice, DK Upadhyaya, ordered an investigation.

The decision was taken at the full court session on July 10, when the court also suspended another district judge, Vinay Singhal, from office. People aware of the matter told HT. This marks the second such comment to appear in quick succession.
Who is Judge Veena Rani?
Veena Rani has worked as a Senior Judicial Officer in the Higher Judicial Service, Delhi. She was appointed as District Judge of the South Eastern District at the Saket Courts in New Delhi, where she presided over the Commercial Court.
The Delhi High Court suspended Rane for the full court session, which was officially announced on July 15.
Why was Veena Rani suspended?
The suspension of Justice Veena Rani came after a vigilance investigation ordered by him Chief Justice of Delhi High Court DK Upadhyaya, but the official reasons behind this are not yet confirmed.
Rani’s suspension was announced on July 15 through a decision issued by Registrar General Arun Bhardwaj, stating that disciplinary action would be considered against her.
“Whereas disciplinary action is contemplated against Ms. Veena Rani, an officer of the Delhi Higher Judicial Service. Now, therefore, this Court, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it under Clause (a) of Sub-Rule (1) of Rule 3 of the All Indian Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, read with Rule 27 of the Delhi Higher Judicial Service Rules, 1970, hereby places the aforesaid and the order perused by which HT, said that Ms. Veena Rani is under suspension with immediate effect.
The order also stipulates that, during the period of suspension, the principal residence of Rane shall remain the office of the Principal District and Sessions Judge (Headquarters), Saket Courts, Delhi.
“It is further ordered that during the period during which this order remains in force, the principal residence of Mrs. Veena Rani shall be the office of the Principal District and Sessions Judge, South East Saket and the said Mrs. Veena Rani shall not leave Delhi without obtaining permission from the appropriate authority,” he added.
