NEW DELHI: Comments by overseas Congress chief Sam Pitroda that India’s raw talent in the IT sector ended up serving others while the country itself was unable to benefit from it, drew sharp criticism from the BJP, which termed it as yet another example of the opposition party’s India-bashing.He said in statements that spread very quickly: “We have young but raw talent. What happened in the software industry? We created a lot of talent but it ultimately helped multinational companies around the world… We were not able to benefit from it. We were not able to create a social network, or a company like Microsoft, or even an operating system.” “We used our talent to serve others,” Pitroda said. He said that while the US is the undisputed leader in AI and China is next, the rest of the countries are nowhere to be seen despite making a lot of noise.BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla responded. “After the Congress’s shameless action, now comes the Lashkar-e-Sam’s chief advisor Pitroda,” he said, referring to the controversial protest by Youth Congress members at the Global Artificial Intelligence Summit on Friday. Pitroda was accused of lying to attack India. He mentioned operating systems like BOSS Linux, Maya OS, and Prime OS. “Unfortunately, the only job of Congress is to malign Bharat with lies,” a BJP official said.
