Delhi Police arrested a 25-year-old vegetable seller from Bihar on Wednesday on charges of molesting an 11-year-old girl in Nihal Vihar district.

According to the police, the incident occurred on April 3, 2026 in front of the victim’s home. The girl’s uncle called the police station the next day and informed them that an unknown person had harassed his niece before fleeing.
Police officers of PS Nihal Vihar acted quickly and recorded the statement of the minor victim in the presence of her parents. Based on her account, a case was registered under Section 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on charges of outraging the modesty of a woman and under the relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
A dedicated investigation team was formed immediately, comprising head constable Devender, Dharmpal, Vikrant and constable Vipin, led by inspector Shispal, SHO Nihal Vihar. The investigation was supervised by Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajbir Lamba, Paschim Vihar.

The team worked around the clock and carefully examined footage from more than 100 surveillance cameras installed in the surrounding areas. During this operation, they discovered the suspect near Lakshmi Park.
After this decisive advance, the police raided the site and succeeded in arresting the accused, a resident of Madhubani district in Bihar.
The accused reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation. Further investigations revealed that he works as a vegetable seller in the nearby area.
The accused was arrested and remains in police custody. Further investigation into the case is still ongoing.
