Hezbollah says it attacked Israel

Lebanese Hezbollah said it attacked forces in northern Israel on Wednesday, while Israeli strikes killed at least nine people in southern Lebanon, dashing hopes for an end to the cycle of violence.

US President Donald Trump announced Monday that he had brokered an agreement that Lebanon said would stop Israeli attacks on Beirut and Hezbollah attacks on Israeli territory, before its scope expands.

Since then, Israel has said it has Washington’s support to strike Beirut’s southern suburbs — a Hezbollah stronghold — if the Iran-backed group targets northern Israeli communities.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi warned on Wednesday that any attack on Beirut would lead to a “large-scale resumption” of the conflict and insisted that Israeli forces must leave the country.

US-Iran ceasefire news live: Israel and Lebanon agree to implement a ceasefire, raising hopes of reaching an agreement with Iran

US-Iran ceasefire news live: Israel and Lebanon have agreed to implement a ceasefire to end hostilities, the Trump administration said on Wednesday, raising hopes for a broader agreement to end the US-Israeli war on Iran.

Tehran, which conditioned any agreement with the United States in part on an end to the fighting between Israel and Lebanon, had earlier struck Kuwait, damaging its airport and wounding dozens while the US military carried out strikes near the Strait of Hormuz.

A joint statement issued by the US State Department after negotiations in Washington stated that the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon is conditional on a complete ceasefire by the Hezbollah militia allied with Iran and the evacuation of all its members from the southern Litani sector.

US-Iran ceasefire news live: US strike on alleged drug boat kills two people in the eastern Pacific

US-Iran Ceasefire News Live: The US military attacked an accused drug smuggling boat in the eastern Pacific on Wednesday, killing two men, as the Trump administration wages a month-long campaign against alleged traffickers in Latin America.

This latest attack brings the number of people killed in boat attacks launched by the US military to at least 207 people since the administration began targeting what it calls “narco-terrorists” in early September.

As with most military statements about strikes in the Eastern Pacific and Caribbean Sea, US Southern Command said it targeted alleged drug traffickers along known smuggling routes. The army did not provide any evidence that the ship was transporting drugs. A video posted on X showed a boat speeding through the water before it burst into flames.
