The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday responded to US President Donald Trump’s repost of comments from a right-wing commentator who described India as a “hell hole”, saying the remarks were “ill-considered, inappropriate and in bad taste”.
The ministry said the statements did not reflect “the reality of India-US relations.”

“We have seen these comments, as well as the subsequent statement issued by the US Embassy in response. These statements are clearly ill-considered, inappropriate and in poor taste. They certainly do not reflect the reality of the Indo-US relationship, which has long been based on mutual respect and shared interests,” the MEA statement said.
