Police said that two people died after a truck fell into a 100-metre-deep ravine in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand state, while rescue teams on Friday intensified the search for a 16-year-old boy who was swept away by the Ganges River in Haridwar.

The District Control Room in Rudraprayag received information late on Thursday evening that a truck had met with an accident near Tarsali, according to officers of the State Disaster Response Force. A joint rescue operation involving the Sudan Self-Defense Forces, District Police, Fire Service and National Disaster Response Force was launched at the accident site.
Police identified the two dead as Sanjay Rana (45 years old) and Mohan (36 years old).
Officers said the team descended approximately 100 meters into the valley using rope rescue techniques and located the wrecked truck. The two men were extricated and handed over to Ambulance Service No. 108. Doctors declared them dead on arrival.
In a separate incident, the SDF on Friday intensified its search for a teenager who went missing after being swept away by the strong current of the Ganges near Balram Ghat in Haridwar.
Police said Dipanshu (16), son of Sunil Kumar, a resident of Jatoli village in Gurugram district of Haryana, was bathing in the river near Saptarishi on Friday when he was swept away by the current.
Following information received from the Disaster Control Room, Haridwar, an SDRF team led by Assistant Inspector Ashish Tyagi reached the spot with deep diving equipment and rescue equipment and launched an intense search operation. The team searched several possible locations along the river, but were unable to track the teenager due to the strong current. Officials said the search operation is continuing.
