However, the court ordered him to be surrendered before the competent court having jurisdiction in the case, news agency PTI reported.
This development came about an hour after the anticipatory bail application he filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court was withdrawn. The anticipatory bail application was filed after a lower court rejected his plea last week.
Here are the latest updates:
Twisha Sharma’s family members said on Friday that the court accepted their plea and ordered an autopsy on her body for the second time. The examination will be conducted by a team of doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
Justice Avanendra Kumar Singh explained that the autopsy will be conducted in Bhopal, with arrangements being made for a special flight to bring the medical team to carry out the procedure.
The previous autopsy report had said that Sharma died due to “ante-mortem suspension with a ligature” and also indicated several minor blunt force injuries to different parts of her body.
Twisha Sharma, originally from Noida in Uttar Pradesh, was found dead on May 12 at her matrimonial home in Bagh-Mughalia area of Bhopal. Her family claimed foul play and pointed to signs of injury on her body. They claimed that she told them that her husband had assaulted her. The Bar Council of India (BCI) has suspended advocate Samarth Singh from practicing law with immediate effect over allegations linked to the death of his wife, Twisha Sharma, within months of getting married in Bhopal. Twisha’s cousin, Ashish Sharma, claims that the delay is due to the influence of the accused
Twisha Sharma death case live updates: Twisha Sharma’s cousin, Ashish Sharma, while speaking to ANI, claimed that the delay in the investigation has been caused due to the influence of the accused and demanded that those who allegedly helped them be held accountable.
He said: “It is very clear that this delay was due to their power and influence. The government will have to find out who are the people who continued to help the perpetrators even after the crime. It is the hard work of the people who worked to get justice for Tawisha. We are grateful to the officers for this decision but the delay will always hurt us. This should not happen to anyone else. Action must be taken in a timely manner. The law should stand for justice, not for the rich or the powerful.”
Ashish Sharma described it as a long legal battle and said, “We will be optimistic as long as people continue to fight for justice for Toysha. This is a long battle.”
