With the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls eliciting political backlash, Tamil Nadu Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) leader and Erode West Assembly constituency candidate KK Anand Mohan on Tuesday asserted that the party remains confident of forming the government with a clear majority.

Speaking to ANI, Anand Mohan said the party is not attaching any importance to exit poll projections and expressed confidence that TVK founder Thalapathy Vijay will form the government on May 4 with over 150 seats.

“Even though various exit polls are coming out, we are not paying attention to them. Vijay will form the government on May 4 with a single majority after winning more than 150 seats,” he said.

He further claimed that a large section of voters supported the party, noting that “seven out of ten people” voted for the TVK whistle symbol, adding that the votes were cast in favor of Vijay’s leadership.

Confirming the party’s stance, Anand Mohan said that the leadership and candidates remain confident about their prospects. “Vijay is confident that he will form the government, and the people are also confident. We do not give importance to the results of opinion polls,” he said.

Anand Mohan further informed that Vijay has called a consultative meeting in Chennai on Tuesday, which the party candidates are scheduled to attend. He added: “We are now moving to attend the meeting. Only good things will happen, and victory is certain.”

Meanwhile, in Tamil Nadu, the Axis My India poll expects the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to get 98-120 seats in its first election, the DMK-led alliance to get 92-100 seats, and the five-party alliance led by the BJP to get 22-32 seats.

According to Axis My India, Vijay is ahead of Prime Minister M K Stalin in terms of selection of the next Prime Minister. While Stalin had the support of 35 percent of those surveyed, Vijay had the support of 37 percent.

Many other opinion polls predicted that the coalition led by the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party would return to power in the state. People Pulse expects the DMK-led alliance to get 125-145 seats, while the AIADMK-led alliance, which includes the BJP, will get 65-80 seats. It expected Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to get two to six seats. Tamil Nadu has 234 Assembly seats.

As per Matrez poll projections, the DMK and its allies will get 122-132 seats, while the AIADMK and its allies will get 80-100 seats. TVK will get 0-6 seats in the Assembly, she said.

The P-MARQ exit poll predicted the DMK-led alliance would get 125-145 seats, 60-70 seats for the AIADMK-led alliance, and one to six seats for the TVK.

People Insight expected the DMK-led alliance to get 120-140 seats, 60-70 seats for the AIADMK-led alliance and 30-40 seats for TVK.

The Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) led by the DMK in Tamil Nadu also includes the Congress.

The counting of votes is scheduled to take place on May 4.
