Vehicular traffic was restored on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on Tuesday after landslides that blocked road connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district for a day were cleared.

A traffic police officer said: “Traffic returned on the highway on Tuesday morning after the landslides were removed.”
According to an official update, passenger vehicles are now allowed to ply from both directions – Jammu to Srinagar and vice versa – on the expressway.

A traffic police spokesman said vehicular movement came to a halt on the highway on Monday as landslides and stone fire blocked both pipes between Karol Bridge and Chanderkot.
More than 400 vehicles were stranded at various places on the highway, officials said, adding that they were cleared first.

Meanwhile, the traffic police advised commuters to follow strict lane discipline, warning that overtaking and driving in the wrong lane could lead to congestion along the road.
The authorities also urged the public not to pay attention to rumours, and check the road condition through official channels, including the social media handles of the traffic police and traffic monitoring units of Jammu, Srinagar and Ramban.
