“Our target is 100%. The higher the polling intensity, the greater the chances of Mamata Banerjee returning to power. There is no major problem with voting anywhere except some places. Our agents are everywhere… We are going everywhere and ensuring that no problems arise anywhere…” Ghosh told ANI after casting his vote.

Earlier, Ghosh had said in a press conference: “In the first phase, the TMC was already a century old. After the second phase, we are saying that the BJP will not even cross 50 seats in Bengal, while the TMC will get more than 235 seats. We thank the mothers and sisters – the higher the turnout, the greater the TMC’s victory…”

Meanwhile, mother of rape victim RJ Kar and BJP candidate from Panihati, Ratna Debnath, on Wednesday said that people will uproot and oust the ruling Trinamool Congress when the assembly polls are announced on May 4.

She also said that everyone is ready to vote to remove Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from power, and referred to her previous statements on women’s safety.

“Thank you very much people, there was not such a huge voter turnout this time. People will uproot and oust the TMC. Everyone is ready to remove Mamata Banerjee. Our only regret is that when such an incident happens, our Prime Minister herself insults women… Those who say such things that girls should not go out after 8 pm, when my daughter was killed, they said girls should not do night duty. This time Bengal will fight against this…”

Voter turnout in West Bengal reached a staggering 91.62% as the second phase of polling concluded on Wednesday.

As per the latest data released by the Election Commission of India at 7:30 pm, Purba Bardhaman district maintained the lead with a whopping 93.48% turnout, closely followed by South 24 Parganas (91.73%), North 24 Parganas (91.70%), Hooghly (91.50%), Nadia (91.45%) and Howrah (91.17%).

The second phase covers 142 of the 294 seats in West Bengal. The votes will be counted on May 4.
