Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked National Democratic Alliance (NDA) lawmakers to reach out to youth and allay fears, adding that those responsible for the paper leaks will be dealt with according to the law, people familiar with the details said.
It is learned that the Prime Minister, who is addressing the parliamentary party meeting of the NDA now called Mangal Milan, told the legislators that it must be ensured that the interests of students are protected.
A person familiar with the details said: “He said that the people who were arrested would be punished with the harshest punishments… but the students must be made aware of the opposition’s conspiracies.”
The Prime Minister’s statement comes amid student protests led by the Sarsour Janata Party. The seasonal session began on Monday, amid protests inside and outside Parliament over the issue of leaking papers and irregularities in the conduct of exams.
In his customary pre-session address, the Prime Minister pointed out the strides made by India’s youth.

Speaking to the media, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said, “…The Prime Minister provided guidance to everyone… It was a very productive meeting. The Prime Minister addressed many important issues and gave his directions. He highlighted the successes achieved by the country in recent months and spoke about the free trade agreements signed with various countries.”
The minister said that the Prime Minister stressed that the interests of farmers will be a priority.
“He stated that the welfare of farmers remains paramount in any free trade agreement signed with any country, ensuring that such agreements serve the best interests of both the farmers and the nation,” Rijiju said.
Rijiju said the newly elected Rajya Sabha members were welcomed and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Nabin also attended the meeting for the first time as a Rajya Sabha member after assuming the party’s presidency.
