Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of remaining silent on what he described as “massive manipulation” in the Class 12 CBSE exam results.

“There has been massive tampering in the CBSE exam results, leaving millions of children across the country and their parents in shock,” Gandhi wrote on X.

“And Mr. Modi? As always – no answers, no accountability, no shame.”

Terming it a “deliberate conspiracy”, Gandhi alleged that COEMPT, which was awarded the CBSE contract, had carried out a similar exercise in Telangana in 2019 under the name Globarena.

“COEMPT, which has been entrusted with this responsibility, has already undertaken the same mission in Telangana in 2019 under the name Globarena,” he said.

He added: “The name has changed – but the intention remains the same. Everyone knows the history, and yet the contract was awarded. The future of 1.85 million children was handed over to such a company, and no one paid attention.”

The Congress leader also raised a series of questions in his post:

– Why was the CBSE contract awarded to COEMPT, and under whose direction?

– What rules and procedures were bypassed in awarding the contract?

-If COEMPT had previously been involved in a controversy under the name Globarena, why did CBSE fail to conduct background checks?

– What is the relationship between the COEMPT administration and the Modi government?

Gandhi demanded an independent probe into the matter and called for the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) immediately to uncover the “real culprits” behind the alleged scam.

Addressing the students, he said: “Guys of CBSE Generation Z – no one will be able to steal your hard work or your future. We will dig up the roots of this conspiracy and uproot this corruption once and for all.”

What is a CBSE class?

The controversy erupted after students reported errors and technical glitches in the re-evaluation process, with some Class 12 candidates claiming that the answer sheets uploaded by CBSE did not match their handwriting. The complaints raised new concerns about potential mismatches in the OSM system.

The issue came to light after a student, Vedant Shrivastava, requested scanned copies of his answer sheet after what he described as “unexpectedly low grades” in physics.

After receiving the documents on May 23, he claimed that the physics answer sheet linked to his name number did not belong to him.

He flagged the discrepancy on the X and shared side-by-side screenshots of his English and Computer Science papers to highlight the differences in handwriting compared to physics text.

“I studied for a whole year. I sacrificed sleep, peace of mind, outings and everything for these exams. And now I don’t even know if my actual physics paper was checked or not. Do students really deserve this?” he wrote in a post on X dated May 23.

Soon after, Shrivastava faced heavy online trolling, with users calling him “Pakistani” and “anti-national”.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi came out in support of the 17-year-old, accusing the BJP’s IT cell of branding him as “anti-national” for seeking justice.
