Whenever the RSS asks me to resign, I will do so, but retirement from work will never happen,” he said. “There is no election for the post of RSS chief. Regional and divisional heads appoint the chief,” he noted.
RSS chief on conservation: ‘As long as necessary’Bhagwat also talked about caste quota. “Caste-based reservation should continue as long as necessary. It will be resolved through goodwill. We should not fight among ourselves,” he said.
“Politicians say ‘I am Brahmin, vote for me’ to get power; they are vote bankers. The solution lies in moving forward with goodwill. Politicians are vote seekers,” he added.
Trade agreements, and agricultureSpeaking further on recent trade deals with the US, European Union, UK and other countries, the RSS chief called for farmers’ welfare to be prioritized and pushed for an organic agriculture-centric approach.
“Agreements will happen and should happen, but our interests should be prioritized. Farmers should own their products in agriculture. We had organic farming and our own seeds. Farmers had knowledge, but it was taken away. Only a few varieties are left, yet they have sustained us for centuries,” he said.
