2.71 crore voters went to the polls on Thursday to elect their next representatives in the 140-seat state legislature. Track live updates about the 2026 state elections

As for the state, it is a tight triangular contest between the ruling Left Democratic Front, the Congress-led United Democratic Front alliance, and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.

While the polls for the 140 seats are now closed, those inside the polling stations and queuing to cast their votes will still be able to exercise their right to vote.

Where does voter turnout stand in Kerala? Data at 5 p.m

Based on the data provided by the European Commission and viewed by Hizb ut Tahrir, the highest participation rate was recorded in the Kozhikode district at 77.63 percent.

Meanwhile, the lowest turnout was recorded in Pathanamthitta district at 68.90 per cent. In terms of Assembly constituencies, the highest percentage was recorded in Kunnathunad in Ernakulam district at 81.99 per cent.

The lowest turnout is 66.81 per cent in Kaduthuruthy in Kottayam district.

The European Commission expects the voter turnout to reach 90 percent in Kerala

Speaking to news agency PTI, Kerala Chief Electoral Officer Rathan U Kelkar said the voting trend indicates that voter turnout will reach 90 per cent in the state.

“If the current trend continues, when the polls are over, we are confident that we will see a 90 per cent turnout,” Kelkar was quoted as saying.

Voter turnout in the 2026 House of Representatives elections has already exceeded voter turnout in the previous elections. In 2021, total voter turnout in elections for the 140-seat assembly was 74.06 per cent.
