What is the case against Sushil Prajapati?
Prajapati was accused of sexually assaulting an LLB student in his apartment in Ghaziabad. In her complaint, the student informed the police that she had met Prajapati in 2021, and he advised her to start practicing law in a Ghaziabad court and offered to help her financially and in cases, according to Live Hindustan.
The accused then took her in his car to an apartment in Ghaziabad, while falsely stating that senior lawyers would arrive there, and offered her a soft drink. Her complaint said she “fell asleep” after drinking the drink.
The student alleged that the accused raped her while she was unconscious, and when she regained consciousness, he threatened to kill her if she reported the incident, Life Hindustan reported.
He claimed to be associated with a Hindu organization while making threats, but then left her in the street and left, the complaint states.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Muradnagar police station on August 8, 2025. Some activists allegedly associated with right-wing organizations also reached Muradnagar police station, but the cops took control of the situation by explaining what happened.
The accused had initially refused to surrender after the FIR was registered, for which the police had announced a reward of Rs $His 25,000. He was then arrested on August 11, 2025, and was sent to police custody. He was released on May 17 after spending nearly nine months in prison.
