In a video message issued on Monday afternoon, the TMC urged voters not to leave the counting centres, showing confidence that the trends will reverse giving a lead to the TMC against the BJP in later rounds of counting.

The BJP managed to register a huge win over Mamata’s party, leading in 181 seats, while the TMC is trailing in 90 seats.

Here are the top five allegations made by Mamata in her video message:

  • Mamata said the junta was still ahead by about 100 seats in the assembly, but the latest figures had not been revealed.
  • The Election Commission and the BJP have not shown trends in seats where the TMC is leading, the TMC said.
  • “The numbers being fed are fake,” Mamata said, though she said the tables would be delivered after 14 to 18 rounds of counting.
  • “The Election Commission is working entirely at its will, and the central forces are also with it. The police are also working with the central forces,” Mamata Banerjee said.

  • Mamata also raised the issue of SIR, saying the BJP and the Center “looted votes in the name of SIR”. She also said that the Transitional Military Council was being subjected to “torture from all directions.”

The Bhabanipur contest saw an interesting turn of events. While Mamata was ahead in the first, she was behind in the second, and regained the advantage in the third. Suvendu, who is lagging behind in Bhabanipur, was ahead in Nandigram.

The BJP crossed the halfway mark on Monday, leading with 181 Assembly seats against the TMC’s 90 as the counting process progressed steadily, according to the latest data. With the BJP crossing the magic number in Bengal, the saffron party will achieve historic successes in the state it has never ruled.
