Haobijam Dilip Singh (52), also known as Taibanganba, was produced before the Special Magistrate (NIA), Imphal West, by a Delhi Police team led by Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Rakesh Kumar Meena after he was brought to Manipur following his arrest in New Delhi.

During the hearing, the police officer of Singhjami Police Station Sub-Division requested the detention of the accused for further investigation, which the court agreed to.

The court had previously issued an order to bring the accused on May 27, and ordered him to be brought on or before June 27. In implementation of the order, he was produced before the court on Saturday.

According to the investigating agency, Dilip Singh was arrested in New Delhi on June 1, 2026, during a joint operation carried out by the Special Cell of Delhi Police, Manipur Police and central agencies. He was arrested soon after his arrival in the national capital, where he was allegedly scheduled to attend a secret meeting.

The investigators informed the court that though the accused was arrested earlier, his actual custody could not be handed over to the Investigating Officer (IO) immediately due to legal proceedings. As a result, police remand in Delhi has been extended until June 30.

Dilip Singh is wanted in more than a dozen criminal cases registered under the UAPA and other laws, police said.
