Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday stressed the need to increase production of electric vehicles in the country in the wake of the fuel crisis due to uncertainty over crude oil imports.

Addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone for Hero MotoCorp’s Global Parts Center (GPC 2.0) at Madannapalem in Satyavedu constituency in Tirupati district, Naidu asserted that in the future, electric vehicles will dominate Indian roads.
“The future belongs entirely to electric vehicles. Hero MotoCorp must be fully prepared to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles,” the Chief Minister said and asked the company to significantly expand its electric mobility manufacturing operations in the state.
He assured the company of the government’s full support for the rapid implementation of its expansion plans.
The Prime Minister said that the new global spare parts center will be established with an initial investment of over $750 Crore was part of Hero MotoCorp’s broader investment roadmap of over $3200 Crores. “This project will transform Tirupati into a global hub for manufacturing, logistics and electric mobility,” he said.
Naidu lauded Hero MotoCorp founder Dr Brijmohan Lal Munjal, describing him as a visionary industrialist who has made tremendous contributions in nation building through entrepreneurship.
He said Hero MotoCorp has been an important partner in industrial growth in Andhra Pradesh, especially in the transformation of the Rayalaseema region. “The latest investment will create new opportunities for the youth, boost Rayalaseema’s industrial economy and make Tirupati one of India’s leading manufacturing, mobility and logistics hubs,” he said.
Highlighting the state’s renewable energy ambitions, the Chief Minister said Andhra Pradesh has prepared plans to generate 160 GW of green power and has already signed agreements to generate 100 GW of power, putting the state ahead of others in renewable energy development.
He also lauded Hero MotoCorp for encouraging the recruitment of women, noting that nearly 40% of the company’s workforce includes women. He described the women from Andhra Pradesh as hardworking, quick learners and capable of making significant contributions to industrial development.
Speaking on the occasion, Hero MotoCorp CEO, Dr Pawan Munjal said that the new global spare parts center marks an important milestone in the company’s journey and reflects its confidence in India’s future and growth vision in Andhra Pradesh.
The investment will transform Tirupati into a future-ready manufacturing and electric mobility hub, strengthen Hero MotoCorp’s global supply chain and reinforce the company’s commitment to ‘Make in India, for India and the world’, he said.
